Dear All
Tomorrow is the last day to submit RE-NEWED Objections to the One Battersea Bridge tower disaster project.
Council officers have advised that all concerned people should re-affirm their objections because Rockwell has lodged a revised planning application. The only basic construction change is the lowering to 28 storeys (plus a double height ground floor).
There are many good examples of objection letters on the planning portal, and some are filed on my blog here. For ease of use, the basis of your objection might include:
...the height and mass of the development is out of all proportion to the Battersea area; the scheme flies in the face of Wandsworth Council's Local Plan of 2023 which advises against tall buildings; the planning application is resolutely flawed on multiple counts and lacks detail and advanced research and data, not least when it comes to traffic management; how the height of the building damages an historic river vista and would set a worrying precedent for future towers (note Vauxhall); light pollution across the river and surrounding neighbourhood; loss of sunlight to local properties.
You may also wish to refer to the 400+ (that is four HUNDRED, folks) "dodgy" letters of support that were cynically solicited by Rockwell to sway the balance on the council's Comments portal. If you think that this practice is questionable, you could ask that these letters are examined and dismissed if they are found to have been gathered under false pretences.
There are many more reasons, but essentially you need to state that the application has not materially changed. Implore the council to listen to the views of local residents and those from afar who know that this is a bad idea. The project is ill-conceived and driven purely by profit. It is aesthetically and politically toxic and anti-community.
In the spirit of fairness, I was going to offer a template of text for any who wishes to Support the planning application, but I am struggling to find the words. Leave it with me.
It is time to click HERE and click 'Make a comment' and start writing. Case number FS-Case-663310381. You don't have to write much.
Step up. Don't click on by!
Regards and Thanks for all the support.
We can win this.
