As promised, I have been doing some digging on the people who are really behind the hellish One Battersea Bridge development.

As we already know, the lead company on the planning application is Promontoria Battersea. That, however, is simply the property-facing arm of a corporation of the same name registered in the Netherlands. No tax issues to see there, please move on. There are scores of UK companies associated with Promontory Nl.

But somewhat piquantly, when you follow the flood of money a little further you end up in slightly more foreboding territory and a company called Cerberus. Dedicated students of mythology will know that this company might - or might not be - named after the three-headed hound that guards the gates of Hades. Nice imagery.

Cerberus is a global investment behemoth with "$60billion in assets". It has invested $40bn in property alone isince 2004. Have a look at this boastful little outline summing up its approach to "real estate" and you will get an idea as to what we are up against ("We take a disciplined, asset-based approach focused on opportunities where our operating expertise and asset management capabilities can solve complex situations and enhance fundamental value.") Clearly, community value is not at the heart of this discipline.

This is the leadership board at Cerberus. Please, no laughing at the back or  stereotyping and diversity inclusion gags.

Cerberus is a rabid, dollar munching beast intent on turning our corner of Battersea into hard cash. We must be united and active and bring this multi-headed, demented monster to heel.
