The environment at San Francisco State University has become intellectually and physically unsafe for Jewish students and the Jewish Studies Department.

Unfortunately, six face-to-face meetings over the course of one year with President Leslie Wong have done nothing to change the situation. In fact, it has worsened. President Wong and his administration have repeatedly tolerated anti-Israel students to disrupt visiting Jewish and Israeli speakers, while the atmosphere against Jewish students has become hostile. 

According to two S.F. State University professors, "This current year of turmoil began on April 6, 2016, when student protesters embarked on a 50-minute, nonstop, sound-amplified series of chants, proclaiming 'get the f— off our campus' to visiting Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat and an audience made up of Jewish students and campus visitors." 

THEREFORE, we hereby petition Cal State University Chancellor Timothy P. White to immediately investigate President Wong's lack of control or unwillingness to enforce the intellectual and physical safety of Jewish students at S.F. State University, per California State University's policies, and California and federal laws.
