Petition updateHunger Strike at Santa Clara County Main Jail began April 15, 2018 has now been suspended
Day 4 of the hunger strike

S Asan jose, CA, United States
Apr 18, 2018
The hunger strike officially began Sunday at the Main Jail in San Jose and Elmwood Correctional Complex in Milpitas.
At Mondays conference sheriff' Laurie Smith said "The current hunger strike, instigated by a select few individuals, is an unproductive negotiating tactic for change,” “Custody improvements and reforms will continue as scheduled irrespective of the inmate protest.” then goes on to say
“The health and safety of our staff, visitors and INMATES is always our top priority,”
If the health and safety of inmates is always a priority then why not negotiate and come to an agreement. Today is day 4 and the sheriff's office has made no effort to stop the strike. Let's share this petition and also email the sheriff's office to show your concern.
