As residents of Tower Hamlets, we demand the immediate resignation of MP Rushanara Ali.

It beggars belief that any person with an ounce of humanity will not want to see an end to the bloodshed and wanton murder of innocents; over 11,000 Palestinians have been brutally murdered by Israel in little over a month- 4,000 of whom were children.

This is why we, the residents of Tower Hamlets, feel deeply shocked and betrayed at Rushanara Ali’s refusal to support a call for ceasefire- she has completely disregarded the views and wishes of her constituents and betrayed the memories of the 11,000 Palestinians.

Palestine is a red line for us; their 75-year-old struggle for freedom and justice is one we support wholeheartedly. 

We demand accountability from our leaders; they must be held responsible for their actions or lack thereof during critical times like these. Rushanara Ali has put her political ambitions ahead of the lives of innocent human beings suffering a brutal campaign of genocide and ethnic cleansing and as such, we demand that she resign from her position as Member of Parliament for Bethnal Green and Bow with immediate effect.
