There is copious amounts of litter all around Auckland and it is very bad. The majority of this litter is on the side of the road which leads me to believe that a lot of this waste comes from the rubbish trucks themselves. These rubbish trucks always seem to knock a bin over or spill rubbish a lot and it is really bad. Also they catch on fire heaps and a lot of the time malfunction and dump bins on cars and destroy letterboxes and buildings. THIS IS VERY BAD. The cause of all of these rubbish truck fires and stuff like that is people putting lithium ion batteries in their rubbish bin which can catch on fire very easily. This is not me making stuff up. In an official article released by auckland council in 1 year there were 150 incidents of rubbish trucks destroying cars and letterboxes and 23 incidents of rubbish trucks catching on fire. Let me show you some examples

Never put batteries or dangerous goods in bins instead opt to use options like local e-waste recycling programs done by companies like bunnings, mitre 10 and noel leeming. Spreading awareness about this issue would also help by maybe making people aware that they should not put these dangerous things in there. With the other issues Auckland council could help by making changes to their outdated fleet of rubbish trucks. Some changes that we suggest is a cooling system to stop these fires from starting and a ridge around the grabber hand to stop rubbish from spilling

Even just telling one friend or family about this problem can start a chain. We are happy to spread awareness of our beautiful rubbish being burnt on the side of the road or rubbish trucks just dumping rubbish. This is so unfortunate that we have so many accidents to do with
