We have the Royal Seal of Approval!

YAY! We received the Queens Royal Assent this week so Max & Keira’s Law is officially a Go-go! It’ll be introduced around this time next year so hopefully Spring 2020.
Before then there will be a massive public drive to raise awareness and educate people, so we can make an informed decision. Also the emphasis will still be on telling your loved ones your wishes, because as it’s the Soft Opt Out system your family are still consulted in case you mentioned not wanting to donate but perhaps hadn’t opted out etc.
It’s hoped over 700 people dying to live on the Transplant Waiting List will be given their second chance at life.
It’s important to remember you do still have a choice and if you do not want to donate take 2 minutes to opt out. I think as a society we’re more likely to make the effort to opt out than opt in if we don’t agree. Plus this charge coming in will force people to consider something many wouldn’t have known much about before. It’s not a fun topic of conversation, but neccessary as no one knows if we’ll be thrown into that situation tomorrow.
This week my local paper also did an update on the campaign. Feel free to take a read and I’m delighted it’s ginally happening (despite what my grimace suggests).
