As promised here is the link to "Inside Health" where Opt In verses Opt Out. It is the first item mentioned on the programme but the whole 30 minutes is worth a listen in my opinion: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08gy7hy An amazing 3208 transplants have been carried out since 1st April 2016! However, there are currently still 6340 people on the waiting list. This means if the current rate of transplant carries on for the next 24 days until 31st March 2017, then a total of 3434 transplant will have been carried out. But as you have probably noticed that leaves almost double that amount of people waiting for a transplant (that is assuming no one else is added to the list, or no one becomes too ill for transplant or even targically dies waiting in the next 24 days). Sadly due to the fact 1300 people die a year waiting for a transplant (on average 3 a day) then another 72 people could die waiting in the next 24 days! We need the opt out system along with better communication and we need it fast! Please keep SHARING, raising this topic in conversation as even if no one signs the petition their families could then be told their wishes and veen result in more people signed to the current register.
