Any of us could need a lifesaving transplant.

I imagine the fact you have signed this petition suggests you are all too aware that it doesn't matter who you are, where you live, your background, economic status, race, religion or how fit & healthy you keep yourself you could need a transplant. In just the past month two huge figures in the fighting sport world have died who could've benefited from transplants. And although their need for a transplant wasn't the only contributing factors to their deaths the fact one organ wasn't working properly automatically impacts on the rest of the body and it's ability to function. The first being boxing figurehead Muhammad Ali who was on dialysis when he died of a septic shock, it was this infection that killed him, but having such poorly functioning kidneys will not have helped & made it harder to overcome the infection. Also, sadly we lost MMA fighter Kimbo Slice who went into heart failure and who was in need of a heart transplant when he sadly died aged 42 years-old last Monday. You may also remember we lost the rugby legend Jonah Lomu aged just 40 year-old in November 2015 and he was waiting for a kidney transplant. It was identified to be a blood clot that led to his death, but suspected his kidney condition that he was receiving dialysis for was a contributing factor. The point being these are three Sporting Legends who kept themselves incredibly fit, but despite their best efforts still couldn't avoid needing a transplant. So you can just imagine how many people who aren't in the public eye are affected daily by transplantation.
