A disappointing decision from the RSPCA

I'm really disappointed in the RSPCA and sad to be giving this update. Sadly, they have taken the decision to close sites on 30th September and they will stop taking clients from 1st September. (Update: Putney have confirmed they have now been told they are not taking owned animals from 24th August.)

South Godstone are still awaiting a decision and will get a decision on Monday, so hopefully we can at least save South Godstone. 

The CEO, Chris, did not reply to the last email and has yet to inform anybody where the animals will go or what support will be available for pet owners who normally use these facilities.

With the impending September closure there is minimal time for the centres to put anything in place for the animals, something that has been raised as a concern by some of those working there. An extension would allow them to put things in place, whilst also having discussions with other charities who could potentially take over the sites. 

I will personally be emailing the CEO again to reiterate my disappointment in the charity and concerns that this decision was not made with animal welfare at the heart of it. I know many of the comments from those of you who had signed the petition had similar concerns. Although we may not be able to save the centres at this stage I don't think they should go quietly. This decision was not made with animal welfare at the heart of the decision and none of the concerns raised have been addressed.
