The day after Hayley McClenahan-Ernst died in suspicious circumstances at her home in Kingswood, two statements were allegedly texted by her abuser's relative.
That person wrote: 'Max killed Hayley last night'. 'He smashed her head in'.
Nine years after Hayley died, NSW Police have re-newed their investigation into her death, with Max Spencer being the key suspect.
Spencer was the last person to see Hayley alive - he told police she went to stand up, fell and hit her head on a table.
The young mum to three children was abused by Spencer and at the time of her death he was charged with breaching a domestic violence order.
No one has been charged over her death.
For Hayley's family, it's been a hard slog trying to get justice.
Her mum Lisa told media it often felt like no one cared about her daughter's death and the reason why she died.
“Just please, please come forward and talk to the police,” Lisa said.
“Because we’ve been through hell in the last nine years, waiting for answers, fighting for answers.
“It’s been very hard because it just felt like you know, nobody really cared that she had died.
“It’s important to get justice for Hayley and to know what happened to her and why she’s not here anymore.”
Lisa said Hayley was a fun and kind young woman who was happy and very much loved.
“I was a very lucky mum to have (her), she was a very good girl," she said.
“Hayley was deeply loved by our family, and we have never stopped missing her smile, her infectious laugh and the fierce love she had for her children,” Ms Ernst said.
“My grief over losing my daughter has only deepened with time, especially as I still have no answers about what happened to Hayley.”
