

She left him. He killed her. 47-year-old Chami Jay was murdered by her former male partner in Hernes Oak, Victoria, over the past few days. he then killed himself. She had separated from him recently.
Police found their bodies today and media are reporting neighbours heard gunshots on Saturday evening.
Chami is the 12th Australian woman killed this year. Last year we lost 78 women and 106 were killed in 2024.
Chami's family is all overseas and are unable to attend her funeral, I've been told.
