Royal Commission into Bondi Terrorist Attack

Royal Commission into Bondi Terrorist Attack
The issue
This petition is not about politics.
It is about ensuring that we fully learn from Australia’s worst terrorist attack, so that we can prevent such a tragedy from ever occurring again.
A full Commonwealth Royal Commission is essential. This call has been supported by eminent leaders in law, national security, public institutions, faith organisations, and by politicians from across the political spectrum.
We, the undersigned, request that the Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon Anthony Albanese MP, establish a Commonwealth Royal Commission into the Bondi terrorist attack, with full and wide-ranging investigative powers and the authority to call witnesses.
The Commonwealth Royal Commission should:
Examine the level and impact of antisemitism in Australia prior to the Bondi attack.
Consider whether antisemitic attitudes played a role
Review the effectiveness of counter-terrorism, intelligence and law-enforcement arrangements
Identify any gaps in preventing or responding to extremist threats
Assess how governments and institutions at all levels have addressed rising antisemitism
Finalise the terms of reference in consultation with Jewish community leaders
This Commonwealth Royal Commission must be separate from, and in addition to, any State Royal Commission or other federal inquiries.
