We, the undersigned United Concerned Migrant Workers in Italy, headed by various community and association leaders, strongly manifest and submit to the HONORABLE SECRETARY, our unanimous decision to file a PETITION FOR THE APPROVAL OF EXTENSION OF TERM OF OFFICE, of MRS. LORETA B. VERGARA,   as  WELFARE OFFICER in Rome, Italy, for to the following considerations, to wit:

a)      that both documented and undocumented migrant workers in Italy have been facing various problems regarding their overseas employment, such as rules and policies being implemented by the government and their Italian employers;

b)      that for the past years,  migrant workers in Italy have been thirsty of concrete solutions about their migrant issues which are taken for granted by the past assigned officers of the said office;

c)        that needless to specify, the predecessors of  the herein subject person of this petition had only focused on strict implementation of policies, regulations and circulars coming from the higher authorities, without getting consensus from the concerned Migrant workers;

d)      That various ambiguities, misunderstanding, which became so serious between and among the community leaders, migrant workers, and the officers of POLO/OWWA, were uncontrollable. Thus,  the said migrant workers, in full force picketed and rallied the Philippine Embassy in Rome;

e)       that Migrant Workers in Italy have been longing for efficient, competent, diligent and approachable WELFARE AND POLO OFFICER;

f)       that it was only when MRS. LORETA B. VERGARA took charge as the POLO OFFICER IN CHARGE and WELFARE OFFICER, that the Migrant Workers have the chance to participate in a series of dialogues which lead to smoothly resolve some major issues that concern them;

g)      that it was only during the time of MRS. LORETA B. VERGARA,  when the Migrant Workers are able to exercise their rights to be heard in all matters concerning their status, rights, privileges, and  accorded responsibilities as Oversea Filipinos in general and Migrant Workers in particular;

h)      that Migrant Workers  and the POLO/OWWA office under MRS. LORETA B. VERGARA, have started executing projects, resolutions, and other special events that will continue to make voice of the majority of the Migrant Workers in their respective employers; and,

i)        that for the first time Migrant Workers are able to build harmonious relationship with POLO/OWWA OFFICE through a participatory democracy being implemented by MRS. LORETA B. VERGARA;

j)        that the extension of term of office of MRS. LORETA B. VERGARA as our OWWA OFFICER and POLO OFFICER IN CHARGE, will be a big opportunity for all of us to continue and fulfill the unfinished projects we have started with MRS. LORETA B. VERGARA,  and;

k)      that with her presence,  problems, issues, projects, and the like can be easily resolved  among us.

In view of the foregoing,  we would like to formally petition before your office the approval of the extension of term of office of MRS. LORETA B. VERGARA, as our WELFARE OFFICER and POLO OFFICER IN CHARGE until such time that our unfinished  projects, events, and issues have been properly given resolutions.
