Florida is known for its beautiful beaches, which attract visitors from all over the world. As Floridians, we love our beaches, but understand that in this uncertain time we require strong leadership to enact measures that protect our public health. 

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it is necessary for Governor DeSantis to close all Florida’s beaches immediately. The Governor has issued an Executive Order to close beaches in two of Florida’s counties, but has avoided going any further. Several counties and municipalities have taken measures to close their own beaches, but, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 across the state and nation, Governor DeSantis needs to expand his order to include every beach in Florida. The Governor has the authority to do it, but has so far refused. 

In order to pressure Governor DeSantis, we filed a lawsuit against him on Friday, March 20, 2020. In it, we wrote that, “The Governor has the responsibility to initiate immediate action to cope with the emerging health problems and try to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.” As we fight our legal battle with the Governor, we need you to make your voice heard.
