AID FOR LANDLORDS

The Issue

This petition calls for government aid to landlords affected by the eviction ban moratorium.

Landlords throughout the country have been affected by this ban. Many tenants have taken advantage of this ban in order to not pay their rent, even though they are financially able. The government's statement that they will still owe it is worthless as owing and collecting are not the same thing. These tenants are riding out the moratorium and once their time is exhausted will incur further expenses to landlords to evict them and landlords will lose additional rents for the lengthy time it will take to do so, especially considering the number of tenants who are taking advantage of this, back logging the process. The mortgage forbearance does not help many of us who have private or bridge mortgages. Even those it does help will eventually need to pay the missed payments they received no income to do so with.

Many landlords are not rich and depend on this income not only for the property mortgage and  other expenses related to it but for monthly income. We have been burdened with not only finding a way to live ourselves but to support our tenants.

This is an impossible situation and without help many if us will lose what we have worked our entire lives for. We urgently need some aid to cover the lost rents we are not receiving, even if done with a pay back plan when and if the tenant pays their past due.

Respectfully,
