Change the Traffic Pattern at the NC Wesleyan light

Change the Traffic Pattern at the NC Wesleyan light
The Issue
On Monday March 21, 2016, North Carolina Wesleyan College suffered a great loss of 4 of our freshman students, Robyne St. Claire Barnes, Kandis McBride-Jones, Donyell Brown and Dee Scott. These students all passed away in a 2 car accident at the light in front of the college. The traffic light that is there at present as you travel North or South is simply a green light with a yield sign for the left turn. It is incredibly difficult to be able to make this light consistently in order to turn in to the school, particularly at night, when there are no other entrances to the school. The sporadic traffic flow of southbound Highway 301 makes the turn in to the college quite unpredictable, which can be especially dangerous for the newer teenaged drivers that live on campus. Putting a turn cycle on this light would make travel both safer and easier for the residents of the town and the students of the college. Please consider this action in honor of the 4 young ladies who tragically lost their lives attempting this very turn, and to keep others from suffering the same fate.
