There aren’t too many more updates to be made to this story, but at this time we are pleased to report that former judge Robert K Adrian (Eighth Judicial Circuit of Illinois, Adams County) has a hearing date of Monday, October 28, 2024 before the Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission (ARDC).
Adrian has not entered any Answer to the Counts being brought against him.
In this condition, the Complaint will proceed as if he has entered no defense on any of the three Counts. Succinctly, the Counts are as follows:
Lying to the Judicial Inquiry Board in writing.
Lying to the Judicial Inquiry Board in person.
Lying to the Illinois Courts Commission in person.
We are presently not positive what remedies the ARDC is vested with the authority to utilize, but we pray for permanent revocation of his ability to practice law in any jurisdiction.
Quincy, Illinois being the rather small community that it is, we are well aware that Robert Adrian still has a marked number of friends and supporters who feel that our actions and involvements have far exceeded what any of them believe to be what they think is “fair.” Beyond that, there are many persons in our community and beyond who don’t really know Adrian but who believe this is happening because of “woke, feminist, cancel culture.”
But we want to be really clear about something:
This is happening because a judge broke the law.
No one should ever be in the position to have to fight against the representatives of the law, for years, just to hold the law accountable to itself, beyond the fact that the original victim’s rights to restitution will never be rightly articulated - but as this situation exemplifies, there are corrupt judges who do bestow preferential treatment towards certain types of defendants at the expense of those who have been wronged. It would be a mistake to not extrapolate how often similar biases are leading to the degradation of civil rights for persons in historically disadvantaged and marginalized communities.
And when this happens, as we all plainly see evidence it does happen,
we need to keep standing up and pointing it out.
We need to believe survivors.
Since January 2022, we have been told to “stop this crazy thing” so many times. It’s actually really ironic how many grown men have gotten thoroughly hormonal over us not stopping when they’ve said to stop. We know how you feel.
The difference is, we are saying stop hurting us,
and you are telling us to stop telling people you’re hurting us
so you can keep doing it.
We wish we could put an end to all of it. Putting an end to it this one time absolutely does not feel like we’ve pushed anything too far - it only feels like getting the ball rolling. And it’s our sincerest hope that more victims feel empowered to use their voices and keep speaking their truths. See that there are community agencies, and supporters, and a whole world full of people who do believe that change is possible and a brighter future can be actualized.
We stand for all who have been made to fight battles against monsters that they never deserved to face, and we speak with the voices of all who have had their own abilities to speak taken from them. We will not go silent into that dark night.
Until we meet again,
may we all be blessed with the power and wisdom of Maggie Kuhn:
“Leave safety behind. Put your body on the line. Stand before the people you fear and speak your mind – even if your voice shakes. When you least expect it, someone may actually listen to what you have to say. Well-aimed slingshots can topple giants. And do your homework.”
Thank you for continuing to speak.
