We want to thank Taurean Reign for taking the time to create and upload the following YouTube video:
"148 Days Was Punishment Enough" Judge Robert Adrian
Thank you, Taurean, for lending your voice to this cause, and for weighing in with your thoughts and perspectives - we very much appreciate your time and care.
This case has caught the attention of a good number of people insofar. We started sharing on January 11, 2022, and here we are now.
10 days.
Over 50,000 signatures.
International media coverage.
This is because of each one of you.
It truly is.
You can't know what this means to the survivor, to her family, to our community...Or maybe you do understand, because this has happened to your classmate, your neighbor, your family, your best friend. It's happened to you. It's happened before. It's happening right now, all over our country and our world.
And we want it to stop.
Please keep standing with us.
It is your support that helps us know we are not alone.
Within our own community of just over 40,000 people, we have felt a wonderful amount of support. But, there have been loud murmurs that "this isn't something our town wants to be known for."
WE WHOLEHEARTEDLY DISAGREE.
Because we aren't going to be known as the place where this is allowed to happen. We are going to be known as the place that fought our hardest to make sure it stops happening.
We don't need to be afraid of anyone looking at Quincy Illinois and thinking that's the place with the problem. This problem is everywhere. Judges who sympathize with "promising young (*white) men" instead of upholding the laws that were put into place to serve and protect assault survivors is not an isolated problem or incidence -
IT'S A GROSSLY-PREVAILING INJUSTICE.
Thank you all again for your time and support.
