Seeing so many people support this campaign offers hope amidst an act that took hope away.
We're teaming up and just added City of Sanctuary UK as a co-signatory to the petition. They are dedicated to creating a culture of welcome within communities and we are inspired children at primary schools in Birmingham. They had the idea of drawing welcoming cartoons in response to the government’s action!
We’re asking for you to join them in this action by drawing something to welcome children too! Don’t worry about making it perfect. It just needs to be something that reflects the type of welcome you think these children deserve.
Our campaign will use these drawings to:
- Inspire the Government. We will show these images to them when we do our petition delivery/have meetings. They will be examples of the types of welcome we should be giving to children arriving in the UK
- Create impact. We are thinking of ways to share these welcoming messages and images with those who will benefit from them
- Keep up the pressure. By sharing them on social media and encouraging others to join our campaign

- If you are sending photos with children please remember to give us parental consent in the email.
You may have seen this week that a law passed meaning that more children are likely to be detained. It makes our campaigning even more urgent. I’ve added Suella Braverman as a decision-maker to this petition. As Home Secretary, she is ultimately responsible too and holds power to set things right.
