Good Afternoon School Parents, Fellow Residents and Petition Supporters

After the emails to 6 Local MP's, Council and the Education Minister I have received some further replies that I would like to share with you.

CHRIS PATTERSON MP FOR CAMDEN ANNOUNCEMENT

An Interesting Announcement for the Voters in the State Electorate of Camden who are affected by the Car Parking Crisis at Leppington Station and the Traffic Choas at Leppington Primary School.

REPLY FROM CAMDEN COUNCIL IS ENCOURAGING

Hi Michael

Our Ref. EDMS 18/314553

I appreciate your frustration and to confirm our recent telephone conversation, Leppington Public School is experiencing considerable parking pressure as a result of the Station and expanding school numbers. Council has sought to alleviate this situation with the recent parking restrictions, acknowledging the supply and demand for parking for both facilities. As you’ve appreciated, the station and school are State Government facilities that have not required the consent of Council. Nevertheless, Council has continued to advocate for the situation and Transport for NSW has indicated that they are investigating options to increase parking supply. Council is also progressing with interim street lighting to assist at night time.

Regards

Tom Allen
Team Leader Traffic and Road Safety

PART OF THE REPLY FROM MELANIE GIBBONS MP - MEMBER FOR HOLSWORTHY

"I am disappointed that you feel “not a lot has happened” in relation to commuter parking at Edmondson Park Station. We are working toward the same goal and I am horrified with your assertion that the way to get action is the death or injury to a school child. This is certainly not the case."

PART OF MY REPLY TO Ms GIBBONS

"Ms Gibbons to address your remark that you are "HORRIFIED WITH MY ASSERTION" that the way to get action is the death or injury to a school child.

I would strongly suggest that you reread my email and look at the Context of my comment.

It is NOT an ASSERTION but rather a RHETORICAL QUESTION. And I am extremely disappointed by the lack of caring and compassion you have displayed in making this remark, considering you are a mother of two young children yourself, towards me and the School Community (Both Parents and Children) who are affected by the Traffic Chaos caused by the Car Parking Crisis out the front of the Leppington Primary School during both Morning and Afternoon drop off times.

It's not your electorate but since you have bought into the issue - Have you been out to either Leppington Primary School, Leppington Station or Edmondson Park Stations in the last 6 months to come and check out the problems for yourself? (I doubt very much that you set foot across the western side of the Georges River very often Unless its a Photo opp with Gladys at Casula mall).

The question of a Child being killed or injured is a very real one. Its one that has been asked to me by parents at the School Personally, On camera both in my Videos and in the Nine News Interviews that 3 School Mums recently did.

Do you think it is not a real issue? - Come out and talk to young Mum "Bianca" who almost got run over a couple of weeks ago trying to cross the road with her young daughter."

TO WRAP THINGS UP I THINK THAT THIS PETITION HAS ALMOST RUN IT'S COURSE - THE EDUCATION MINISTER HAS REFERRED THE MATTER TO THE MINISTER FOR TRANSPORT.

Camden Council has done what it can and continues to advocate for more parking at the Station.

I will be focusing on the Main Petition for Multi Level Car Parks at both Leppington and Edmondson Park Station's to try and increase support to 10,000 signatures.

The Leppington Primary School P & C are continuing to work on fixing the problems associated with the School.

There is one further Update that i will post in a few days time after sending another email to the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure recently and receiving a reply.

Yours Sincerely

Michael Andjelkovic JP
