Riviera Club Members Oppose Unjust New Fees and Demand Equitable Options

The Issue

As proud members of the Riviera Club, we believe in community, wellness, and shared investment. We joined this Club — many of us at significant financial sacrifice — with the promise of a welcoming, inclusive space for our families.

The recent announcement of new mandatory fees — a $50 monthly food minimum and a $15 activities fee — is unacceptable. For many, these charges are not just inconvenient — they are financially exclusionary. When added to the already steep membership dues and a $2,000 initiation fee, the Club is becoming inaccessible for the very community it claims to serve.

Worse, these new fees come with familiar, empty promises: “enhanced programming,” “improved service,” and a “vibrant club experience.” Yet we continue to see stalled capital projects, dirty facilities, and limited hours. There is no transparency, and no accountability.

Things that member have asked for that have not came to fruition:

  • snack bar open later
  • fitness center open later in the summer
  • Kids Zone
  • Outside food waiver for dietary restrictions
  • pool repairs

We, the undersigned members, are calling on the Riviera Club Board of Directors and leadership to:

  • Immediately rescind the new mandatory fees or
  • Provide an opt-out pathway for members experiencing financial hardship

Should the Board fail to respond meaningfully, we will take collective action. We are committing to letting our contracts expire and leaving the Club, and we will seek legal counsel to explore early termination due to breach of trust and failure to deliver promised services.

The Rivi should not be a place where wealth determines belonging.

We urge you to listen to the community — before you lose it.
