River Bank Drive - mailbox issues and resolutions
The Issue
I am a resident of River Bank Drive, and I, along with many of my neighbors and our postal carrier, have ongoing concerns regarding the current placement of our community mailboxes.
While the mailboxes were originally installed in centralized locations for convenience, they have become increasingly difficult to access over time. When the community was built between 1988 and 1990, most households had one or two vehicles, and the street functioned as a two-way road. As the neighborhood has grown, the street was converted to one-way traffic, and households now typically have three to four vehicles.
With more residents and more vehicles, available parking has become limited. As a result, cars are often parked in front of the community mailboxes, blocking access. When this occurs, mail delivery is frequently delayed or skipped altogether.
In addition, the centralized mailbox system no longer meets the needs of our growing community, causing inconvenience and delays in receiving important mail and packages.
To address this issue, we propose two potential solutions: relocating the community mailboxes to a more accessible location, or ideally, installing individual pedestal mailboxes at each residence. Either option would significantly improve accessibility, safety, and the overall efficiency of mail delivery.
By signing this petition, you are helping to bring this issue to the attention of local authorities and advocating for a practical, long-term solution. Together, we can ensure that mail delivery in the River Bank Drive community is reliable, accessible, and suited to the needs of all residents.
