Team as you all know Chapel had a mostly dual carriageway built in the 80s, when its population was the same size as Disley is now. See below excerpt from an email I received this morning from a chap born in Tunstead in the 50s who lived in a cottage in central Whaley.

The Chapel Bypass had plenty of objections at the time, but almost the moment it opened in the mid 80s the naysayers soon shut up. It transformed  back into the quieter town I remembered from my childhood. Whaley is busier now, but I shudder to think what state we would be in without the Bypass. I wish you luck in your quest.
