The Issue

Harsher punishments for multiple time offenders of “Goddard's Law”

The Goddard's law states that it is a fifth-degree felony to knowingly cause serious physical harm to a companion animal (including pet stores).  The fifth-degree felony is 6 to 8 months in prison and a max of $2,500 fine. We believe the first offense should be a fourth-degree felony which is 6 to 18 months in prison and a max fine of 5,000 dollars. We also believe if they are multiple time offenders we think they should get a third-degree felony which is 1 to 5 years in prison and a max of 10,000 dollars. Please help us to save the animals.
