Supporting local grassroots sport and watching your children taking part in their weekly events is a great pleasure.

Sadly during the winter month the weather can be pain…not only with events and activities being cancelled if too bad, but it they do go ahead the viewing can be very unsafe and treacherous with surrounding area being so muddy and wet.

The space around the perimeter of the Maritime playing area Pontypridd is not paved or suitable following the weeks/months of continued use by parents/spectators walking around to view games.

The creation of suitable, safe and appropriate paving around the play area will benefit many members of the community and extended communities.

Having wide safe pathway will allow spectators to walk around freely without getting covered in mud, water and slipping due to the unsafe floor that has become unsuitable for spectating.

This petition is ask the local council undertake a review of the area including the space around the playing area and possibly the double fencing that makes it extremely difficult for spectating. As a minimum the use of hardcore stoning to reduce the mud, slip hazards to increase the safety of the area. 

UPDATE 13/03/22:

Finding a suitable solution to the area doesn’t just have to be paving/concrete - looking at alternative solutions that are ecological and environmentally friend too…like wide wood chip based paths.

Making the space accessible and safe is the key.
