No Tony Lepore in Our Parades and Celebrations!

Tony Lepore says Black Lives Matter is a hate group. He spouts anti-immigrant vitriol. He calls 'Dreamers' bums and drug dealers. A few years ago he tried to get a teenage employee of Dunkin' Donuts fired for writing Black Lives Matter on a coffee cup.
Mr. Lepore does not represent the values of our communities, and we don't want our towns paying to have him perform at our events. Currently, Mr. Lepore is slated to do his dancing cop routine in Pawtucket, Newport, Exeter, Lincoln, North Providence, Warwick, Cranston, and Cumberland RI as well as in Yarmoth, Scituate, and Seekonk MA and Mystic, CT. We respectfully demand the organizers of the events in these towns un-invite him now.
Mr. Lepore has gained local and national attention for his controversial, combative, and racist public statements; his actions should not be celebrated.
Be assured, our towns would not be the first to remove Mr. Lepore from public functions. Due to controversy, other municipalities, including Providence and East Providence, have decided not to employ Mr. Lepore. We’ve included three articles--two local, one national--that describe Mr. Lepore’s reputation, in case the additional reading is helpful for your understanding of the situation. We have also included an article from the American Psychological Association about racial trauma.
It normalizes xenophobia and racism to welcome someone with Mr. Lepore’s history and reputation to dance down our Main Streets. Instead let's make these events welcoming to all the families that call our communities home. We stand up for racial justice.
