The Issue

As we all know, the Online safety act was designed by the government to protect children from harm. But unfortunately that is not the case and the reality is, it’s made things worse:

  • VPN and proxy usage has spiked, 500% and 82% increase respectively
  • Data required to be stored are not regulated, meaning it is vulnerable to a black-hat hacker wanting a quick buck
  • Censorship has become more prevalent, Wikipedia has had issues with collaboration ever since it was introduced causing an impact to freedom of information
  • There was an 8% increase of instances of 9-17 years old experiencing harmful exposure online compared to last year up to 77%

it is clear that the online safety act was not designed properly, and it only has brought harm to privacy.

we need change, and for the safety of privacy and our children, we need to reform this act.

We need:

  • A change to the way data is handled in age verification
  • make the act more fair on websites by only requiring them to check for age if the user is trying to access inappropriate or harmful content.
  • focus on tracking and apprehending people who attempt to cause harm to children online, not censoring small or volunteer run websites

together we can protect whose who wish to bring creativity and knowledge and bring those who only wish harm online to justice

please sign and share for a better future

Sincerely:

a person with a dream
