Robbinsdale Area Schools (ISD 281) parents are standing up against the Board’s recent decision to sunset the FAIR 6-8 program. We believe this decision was based on flawed data, violated state statutes, and ignored the voices of our community. We believe that the school board was operating in their own self interest to move their offices into the space and not operating out of the district best interest. WE HAVE UNTIL JANUARY 20TH WHEN THEY VOTE ON APPROVING THE SOD PLAN. IT’S NOT OVER UNTIL THIS IS APPROVED!!! THERE ARE MORE STEPS TO FOLLOW THAT WILL BE ANNOUNCED DAILY!!!!
⚠️The Issues:
• Bad Data: The Board used an outdated 57% building utilization rate to justify the move, while internal data shows it’s actually as high as 74%.
• Legal Shortcuts: The Board voted to sunset the program before holding the legally mandated public hearing—turning a deliberative process into a performative gesture.
• Lack of Oversight: A clear conflict of interest exists in the current CFO/Deputy Treasurer role, removing vital financial checks and balances.
✊ Our Demands:
1. Rescind the Vote: Immediately cancel the Jan 5th decision to sunset FAIR 6-8.
2. Transparency: Host a Town Hall for two-way discourse and provide a point-by-point response to our grievances by Jan 30th.
3. Accountability: Bring in the MN Department of Education (MDE) to oversee debt requirements and provide a line-item audit of the proposed cuts.
4. Arts Guarantee: A written commitment that arts integration will remain fully funded and staffed.
📉 The Consequences:
If the Board refuses to listen, we are prepared to escalate:
• The "Open Enrollment Exit": For every student who leaves, the district loses ~$11,000. Just 100 students leaving creates a $1.1 million hole in the budget.
• Legal Action: Filing for an injunction to halt the sunset due to statutory violations.
• Political Recall: Starting the petition process to recall Board members for malfeasance.
We deserve a district that values data, transparency, and its students.
HOW CAN YOU HELP:
