Reinstate revoked executive orders; 13988, 14004, 14020, 14021, 14075.

Trump has placed several executive orders upon LGBTQ+ individuals that are dangerous and fueled by pure hatred. He uses fear-mongering tactics to paint these individuals as dangerous, and his actions as justifiable. Trump knows that without these narratives his motives would be transparent. That his attacks toward LGBTQ+ individuals have no valid basis. 

Trump has described DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) policies as “illegal and immoral”. (EO 14151) He has also stated that they “threaten the safety of American,” people. (EO 14173) However, taking away these policies threatens the safety of LGBTQ+ people. DEI policies protect them from discrimination and harassment in the workplace, education, and other areas. 

Is it not basic human decency to believe that “Every person should be treated with respect and dignity and should be able to live without fear, no matter who they are or whom they love.”? (Revoked EO 13988) Revoking this order has opened the door even wider for the violence that affects and takes so many LGBTQ+ lives. Trump has acted unlawfully as “these principles are reflected in the Constitution.” (Revoked EO 13988) 

Trump has signed orders that affect all LGBTQ+ but has taken a specific interest in targeting transgender people. Ten transgender women competing in women’s sports is not “demeaning, unfair, and dangerous”. Ten transgender women cannot significantly “deny women and girls equal opportunity” (EO 14201) 

Trump claims that “Countless children soon regret that they have been mutilated and begin to grasp the horrifying tragedy”. (EO 14187) Yet studies show that rarely are gender-affirming surgeries performed on minors and when they are they require parental consent. Moreover, only 0.03% of women and 0.06% of men end up regretting their gender-affirming care. 

Trump wants you to believe that schools are pressuring students “to question whether they were born in the wrong body” and to consider “surgical and chemical mutilation”(EO 14190) yet in a survey conducted with 12,615 LGBTQ+ students only 13.8% said their history classes had ever mentioned LGBTQ+ history. 

Trump is also claiming men “self-identify as women” so they can “gain access to intimate single-sex spaces and activities designed for women”. (EO 14186) However, these men don’t truly believe they are transgender, but instead are using it as a cover to pursue their sick agenda. That suggests that men are the ones behind this safety concern and not transgender women.

Trump has used these lies to justify the following EO. That “the policy of the United States is to recognize two sexes, male and female.” (EO 14186) Trump has risked the very lives of every LGBTQ+ individual by signing these insane executive orders. LGBTQ+ people do exist, have always existed, and will continue to exist no matter what hatred, lies, or executive orders are placed on them.
