Revoke the Release for Accused Kidnapper/Sexual Assaulter
The Issue

The personal safety of our community here in Multnomah County, Oregon, is in imminent danger. Robert Joseph Bryant, Court Case No. 24CR48441 DA Case No. 0511085531, an alleged kidnapper, has been released and currently resides within our neighborhood, mere blocks away from his victim. The victim, other residents, and the staff where she lives are not safe to walk around the neighborhood. He knows where she lives! He resides in a family neighborhood, right around the corner from an elementary school bus stop, with many children and vulnerable people who walk by his home daily and are at risk.
We respectfully request that Deputy District Attorney Alex Hargrove revoke the release of Bryant pending his trial. We believe this act would significantly increase our community's level of safety and ease the concerns that many of us share. This is not mere speculation but instigated by grave concerns from individuals with close personal connections to Bryant as well as the allegations against Bryant and his home being in the neighborhood where he is accused of committing these heinous crimes. The Affidavit and Release Order from his September 24, 2024 hearing, provide a lot of detail regarding the allegations and include information about some of the evidence, including DNA.
The victims of such crimes, particularly in circumstances where the alleged perpetrator resides within close proximity, live in constant fear and anxiety. Statistics have shown that victims of kidnapping or domestic violence often face repeated harm from their attackers, particularly when they are in close contact (National Institute of Justice).
Your Honor, we are relying on the justice system to protect the victim, to protect the people who live in our neighborhood, and to protect the people of Multnomah County. We urge you to consider our fears and concerns, and most importantly, prioritize the safety of potential victims in our community.
It is our hope that together, as a community, we can prevent further harm and foster a safe environment for all our residents.
