!No Distilleries on Virgin Islands Agricultural Lands!
More than 30 St. Croix residents and farmers met in the gubernatorial campaign headquarters of Senator Vialet and engaged in a conversation about Act 8569(b) a bill that was passed without public notice. We had so much to say that would have been expressed if asked for public notice on this bill and we shared that for 45+ minutes.
Senator Vialet graciously met with Frederiksted protesters. Senator Vialet promises to hold public meeting within two weeks from July 22, 2022. Senator Vialet commits to changing law to only include micro-distilleries under 200,000 proof gallons per year.
See the first 35 minutes of our conversation thanks to SheDread Simmonds.
Our community continues to oppose any distillery on any Virgin Islands Agricultural lands, starting with the one already permitted on the west end of Mahogany Rd.
The group is asking for the building and earth change permits to be pulled on the distillery at Matr. 35-B Plot 5 Prosperity. They are also asking that ANY Senator submit an appeal to repeal Act 8569(b) which was written illegally without public notice.
