The Issue

This petition is a call to action to revoke the bail of Riley Brister, Ryder Baker, Bennan Aird, Cruz Cespedes, Dylan Earp, Elijah Johnson, and Zachary Leinemann and expel them from Salisbury University in Maryland. They lured a local gay resident into an apartment near campus using Grindr and brutally assaulted him, hospitalizing him with a broken rib. The entire attack was filmed by one of the defendants.

Suspension is not enough. It leaves the door open for these sadistic men to return to our campus, our classrooms. This is extremely dangerous, as their actions display clear intent to harm and, worse, a delusional sense of entitlement to harm other people. Whatever monetary, academic, and/or athletic contribution the defendants make to SU is not worth students—especially LGBTQ+ students—living in fear for their safety.
