Speaking as an individual deeply concerned about the health of our democracy and the preservation of equal justice under the rule of law, I am alarmed by the Heritage Foundation's involvement in Project 2025. To me, this represents an undisguised attack on our democratic values.

The Heritage Foundation, a supposedly nonprofit 501c3 organization, has been involved in political activities for years, contrary to the stipulations governing their status. Nonprofit organizations have restrictions regarding their involvement in partisan politics which are designed to protect the integrity of these groups and ensure they serve their communities rather than individual political agendas.

However, the Heritage Foundation's involvement in Project 2025, an initiative that seems to undermine democratic principles, is a stark example of this boundary being breached. By becoming politically involved, the Heritage Foundation is violating IRS guidelines for non-profit organizations, as political campaign intervention by section 501c3 tax-exempt organizations is strictly prohibited.

The FBI, in its 2019 report, warned that internal politically motivated influences in our institutions pose a significant risk to democratic processes. The activities of the Heritage Foundation appear to align with such risks and should be scrutinized. The IRS should therefore revoke the Heritage Foundation's 501c3 status, thereby upholding the sanctity and credibility of our nation's non-profit laws.

For years the Heritage Foundation has abused their tax sheltered status. They have promoted or discouraged many specific pieces of legislation and promoted individual judges at every level of the judiciary. We petition the IRS to uphold the rules that govern non-profit organizations, and ensure our democracy isn't compromised. Each voice makes a difference. Sign the petition. Stand up for democracy!
