Nordic Model Now!
Sep 27, 2023

It is now widely accepted that there is a crisis of sexual misconduct in schools, universities and colleges across the UK on a scale that has not previously been witnessed. Isn’t it time that we stopped to consider why this is happening now? What cultural factors are involved and what can we do about them?

This is why we are holding a conference called, ‘Breaking the Cycle: Exposing the links between male violence, pornography and prostitution’ in central London on Saturday 11 November. We will be looking in depth at these issues; at how pornography and prostitution reinforce rape culture and the entitlement and dehumanisation that drives male sexual violence – and what we can do about it.

Dr Gail Dines, international expert on the harms of pornography, will be speaking on ‘Pornography and/as Male Violence Against Women’; Michael Sheath will share key learning from his many years working with sex offenders; Huschke Mau, survivor activist, is coming from Germany to explain the horrors of their legalised prostitution system; Alyssa Ahrabare, Ursula Le Menn and Lorraine Questiaux are coming from France to present two ongoing landmark French trials against the pornography industry and report on French anti-porn activism; British prostitution and porn survivors, Fiona Broadfoot, Esther and Michelle Kelly will be sharing their hard-won wisdom; and Heli St Luce will introduce the Nordic Model.
