Dear readers,
respect for NBA-Awards like the "Rookie Of The Year" (ROY), "Defensive Player of the Year" (DPOY) and especially the "Most Valuable Player" (MVP) has been on the decline for years now.
This can of course be attributed to multiple factors, however it is absolutely certain, that media personel, who generate a lot of traffic with outrageous takes on current NBA matters, but dont actually know a lot about the game and/or the players, having a say in who gets to receive the NBA's most prestigeous awards plays a key factor.
One especially bad example is Kendrick Perkins. Known pretty much only for his shockingly bad Basketball-takes.
In order to restore the once held integrity to the NBA-Awards, the NBA needs to take the first step and revoke Kendrick Perkins' voting rights.
The next step would be to check the online presence and perception of the media personal they're thinking of allowing to vote, in order to avoid their reputation getting tarnished even further.
It is absolutely unacceptable that someone like Kendrick Perkins was ever given a vote in the first place.
While it is probably to late to change the fact that he is able to vote for the 2024/25 NBA-Awards, the goal should be that this is the last time that he, or anyone equally as unfit, is allowed to vote.
