Revoke Charlie Kirk Remembrance Day on October 14th

Revoke Charlie Kirk Remembrance Day on October 14th
The Issue
October 14th is a day of personal significance for me and many others, as it marks the day of my birth—an unassuming date that once stood as a blank space on our calendars. However, it has recently become associated with Charlie Kirk, a controversial figure whose notions and rhetoric have left many questioning his legacy. This petition aims to restore the day to its rightful obscurity and allow those of us born on this date to celebrate without the overshadowing presence of a divisive figure.
Charlie Kirk, a political commentator and influential voice among young conservatives, has sparked significant controversy with his often contentious statements and polarizing opinions. Many believe his views and actions have sown division rather than unity, making the dedication of a remembrance day in his honor contentious, to say the least. His words, often delivered with a provocative flair, do not seem to merit the honor of having a day on our national calendar.
In America, a land abundant with talented individuals, remarkable leaders, and historical figures who have genuinely contributed to the development and unity of our great nation, it seems perplexing why Charlie Kirk would be honored at such a level. Figures who have dedicated their lives to public service, innovation, or cultural enrichment deserve such recognition—Kirk, however, does not meet the criteria established by historical and moral benchmarks.
To honor someone like Kirk is to ignore the wealth of contributions from individuals whose lives truly uplifted society. I believe our calendar should reflect and celebrate the lives of those who made genuine and positive impacts, not serve as a platform for controversial figures.
Join me and over 77 million Americans in calling for the removal of Charlie Kirk Remembrance Day on October 14th. Let us unite in requesting that our voices be heard by the US Senate to ensure our national days of remembrance truly reflect the values and achievements we hold dear. Sign this petition to make a difference today.
