The last official Unreal Tournament title was released 18 years ago, a span of time that has not only seen monumental shifts within the gaming industry but also left a void for fans who grew up inspired by its electrifying matches and community-driven spirit. Players who weren't even alive for the release of the last game hunger for the thrill and excitement only Unreal Tournament could offer. They, like us, deserve to experience the game's true potential, revitalized with modern advancements. We also need Unreal Tournament 3 X to be completed, for cross platform play of the Unreal Tournament series.
Unreal Tournament Beta, affectionately known as Unreal Tournament 4 among us fans, was the tantalizing glimpse of what could have been a revival of this beloved series. Nevertheless, Epic Games chose to divert its full attention to their latest sensation, Fortnite, consequently leaving Unreal Tournament in the hands of devoted fans and a resource-limited community.
While community-driven projects have kept the spirit of Unreal Tournament alive against all odds, the absence of Epic’s official backing has contributed to the franchise's dwindling presence in the public eye. This oversight should be rectified not just for the legacy it leaves behind but also for the future of competitive shooters.
We urge Epic Games to renew their commitment to the Unreal Tournament series by putting into action the resources necessary for its revival. This includes utilizing the latest Unreal Engine technology to maintain the franchise’s cutting-edge reputation and investing in a comprehensive development team capable of producing a game that meets expectations of both new and old fans alike.
