The Issue

We’re asking Pleaser USA Inc & Co to bring back creativity, quality, and innovation in goth and alternative footwear. The scene is growing—our shoes should evolve too while we  also honor the soles that made us.

Dear Pleaser USA inc & Co,

We, the undersigned members and supporters of the aforementioned revival of classic designs in the alternative and goth communities, are calling on Pleaser USA Inc & Co to recognize the growing concern among longtime supporters regarding the declining quality, the small quantity of wider calf / accessible options and the increasing repetitiveness in alternative footwear designs. For decades, brands like Demonia have been at the forefront of empowering self-expression through bold and boundary-pushing designs. However, in recent years, we’ve seen a noticeable stagnation in creativity and an unfortunate decline in material durability, even as demand and access to these products have grown significantly as has the scene its self. The alternative scene is more diverse, expressive, and visible than ever before. With the global expansion of goth, punk, and industrial styles, there is a tremendous opportunity to reflect the vast spectrum of today’s subcultures through fresh, high-quality designs that remain true to their roots. We are asking Pleaser USA Inc & Co to re invest more into the resurgence of classic styles*** thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and truly innovative footwear that meets the needs of a modern alternative audience but with the design and nostalgia of all of the stunning pieces through the ages. Our identities and aesthetics deserve better—footwear that doesn’t just sell, but inspires even the copy cats and spoil sport dupe artists out there to up their game.

To: Pleaser USA Inc & Co

We urge Pleaser USA Inc & Co to consider collaborating with designers and artists within the scene, having been there every stitch, zip, and tie of the way to reinvigorate product lines with more diverse silhouettes, customizable features, and inclusive sizing. Reintroducing discontinued classics with improved materials or offering limited-edition capsule collections could also generate excitement and trust in the brand’s commitment to its core audience. In addition, greater transparency on designs and a renewed focus on durability—especially for platforms, zippers, and synthetic materials—would address ongoing concerns voiced by many loyal customers. It would also be a major step forward in the fashion industry to have shoe aids as potential add ons for those that need them such as a zipper pull assist, the option for longer laces, larger sizes in the more “feminine” collections, and perhaps even a “other half” program where someone with a limb difference who may only need one shoe is offered the chance to donate the other shoe or reduce the cost of two shoes being made and potentially having the other go un used and end up in a field. Let’s keep fashion circular. These changes would not only elevate your brand, but also reinforce your role not only as a pioneer of alternative fashion but a leader in alternative fashion that evolves with its community and creates shoes for EVERYBODY.

Here are some examples of classics or discontinued styles that we the consumers, would love to see return:

  • Witch 127s (including WC)
  • Torment 804s (including WC)
  • Dank 108s
  • Witch 105
  • Witch 08s
  • hex heels
  • Torment 703
