Revive the "Sonic Unleashed DS" fan port

After 4 years of development hold all because of college, the original creator of the fan port stated that it was cancelled. Check the game back here: https://gamejolt.com/games/sonicuds/606187
This was heartbreaking for fans who had been eagerly waiting!
I started this petition to ask any DS modding community who we're good at making NSMB rom hacks, but some Sonic ones only did character mods for Sonic Rush to takeover the project. We have 3DS's and Recompiled ports, but the DS version deserves this too, the original Gamejolt page (like I mentioned before) still shows what could have been an amazing project.
The disappointment is real, many of us fans we're following development closely and hoping for release. Anyone else think the DS homebrew scene could use more love like this?
