Revive Oakwood Mall – Bring Back a Community Hub to Enid

The Issue

Oakwood Mall was once the heart of Enid. Growing up, it was the place where families shopped, kids hung out, and the community came together. Memories were forged in its vibrant halls, from simple shopping trips to momentous life events. Now it’s nearly empty, and every year it feels like Enid loses another piece of what made it special. The decline of Oakwood Mall isn’t just about losing a mall. It’s about losing a community cornerstone.

The once thriving Oakwood Mall now stands nearly deserted, with only a few businesses stubbornly persisting amidst a sea of empty storefronts. This decline has not only reduced local shopping options but has also forced families to travel to other cities for diverse shopping experiences and entertainment, taking valuable dollars out of our local economy. Moreover, this decline has cost the City of Enid significant tax revenue that could have been reinvested into our community to improve infrastructure, schools, and public services.

With nearly 50,000 residents in Enid and a broader population of 178,000 within a 50-mile radius, the potential to support a thriving retail and entertainment hub is immense. Enid’s citizens deserve a community space that reflects our city’s vibrant spirit and potential. Reviving Oakwood Mall can open doors to numerous opportunities: attracting new businesses, creating jobs, and restoring a gathering space that enriches local joy and livelihood.

To achieve this, we urge local leaders, businesses, and developers to collaborate on a plan that prioritizes community needs. This could include developing diverse retail stores, entertainment venues, dining options, and community centered spaces that draw both locals and visitors. By revitalizing Oakwood Mall, we will not only reclaim a beloved landmark but also energize our city’s economic and social fabric.

Enid deserves better, and together, we can make it happen. Sign this petition to show your support for bringing Oakwood Mall back to life and transforming it into a vibrant community hub once again.
