Hello fellow petition supporters,

I want to share what I hope will be my last email to local politicians regarding Toronto Humber Yacht Club's lease coming to an end on the shores of the Humber River (we won the political battle.. now for the courts).

Hello,

I would like to thank each of you and your staff for taking the time to review the many concerns THYC posed to the health of the Humber River as well as the ability of community members to enjoy the Humber Ravine.

Although I understand the long and storied history of the club as presented by Councillor Holyday, I'm forever grateful to the more cleared eyed councillors who were able to see beyond the club's past reputation to acknowledge the present day damage the club's current leadership team has done to the public property the club occupies as well as the detrimental effect the club's leadership team has had on the broader community's ability to enjoy the many benefits the Humber has to offer.

I'm especially thankful to Councilor Fletcher for clearly expressing the unfortunate ramifications club members as a whole faced due to the club's leadership team failing to act in the club's best interest.

And last but not least, I and the local community owe Councillor Morley a huge debt of gratitude for taking the time to dive into the many issues created by THYC. She listened to community members, met with THYC club representatives and toured the club facilities so she could develop a complete picture of what was happening on the ground. Councillor Morley and her staff showed what is best in local politics, taking the time to engage stakeholders on both sides of an issue and then plotting the best course for the community as a whole. If only all city councillors were so thorough in their service of the community as a whole vs serving the wants of special interest groups.

Yours with much appreciation,
Jason Sills
