Revitalize Mariner Mountain City Park into an off-leash dog park
The Issue
For the past 30 years, Mariner Mountain City Park in Silver Bay, Minnesota, has been neglected and left to gather weeds. Currently, there are no off-leash dog parks within an hour's drive from Silver Bay, leaving dog owners without a dedicated space for their furry companions to run free and socialize. As a dog owner in this community, I personally feel the absence of a nearby, convenient, and safe space for dogs to play off-leash.
Mariner Mountain City Park holds the potential to become a vibrant community hub, not just for dogs and their owners, but for all residents of Silver Bay. Transforming this abandoned space into a dog park would breathe life back into the area, promote community involvement, and encourage responsible pet ownership. Utilizing the existing infrastructure of the park can significantly reduce the costs associated with this transformation. Benefits tailored to the community include fostering social interaction among residents, improving the quality of life, and providing a much-needed venue for dogs, which are an important part of many families.
The city can implement distinct sections for small and large dogs, invest in agility equipment, install waste disposal stations, and ensure adequate benches and shaded areas for owners. This initiative would send a strong message that Silver Bay values community spaces and the well-being of its residents and animals alike.
By signing this petition, you are supporting the call to transform Mariner Mountain City Park into a safe, engaging, and functional off-leash dog park. Your signature can motivate city officials to invest in our community, breathe life into an abandoned site, and finally create an environment where dogs of Silver Bay can play freely. Let's come together as a community to make a lasting impact. Please sign this petition to help make our vision a reality.
