We are excited to announce that the petition to Revitalise Joburg’s Inner City and Make Joburg Art Gallery a #G20SouthAfrica 2025 Host Venue is about to reach another milestone! With your help, we can continue to raise awareness and help convince the relevant decision makers into doing the right thing for the residents of Jozi and for the Joburg Art Gallery. Please share & engage!
Your engagement has elevated the serious issues facing the Joburg Art Gallery (JAG) and the broader collapse of the Inner City to a national and international audience.
This incredible support has been complemented by the 90 promoters who have been instrumental in spreading the word, allowing us to reach over 500,000 people and raise significant awareness.
We will continue our outreach to relevant stakeholders to further advance the objectives of this petition, and keep you updated.
We reiterate the call for the City of Joburg to embrace multi-stakeholder partnerships in this turn-around and work with specialist, dedicated groups (such as the Friends of JAG) to urgently revive the JAG’s correct function, stable institutional governance, its spirit and to fulfil its latent potential.
Check out recent Valentine’s day launch of our “Spread Love in the City” campaign at the Lapeng Early Childhood Development Centre in Joubert Park, surrounding the Joburg Art Gallery. Teams of volunteers tackled much needed maintenance around the Centre, planted urban food gardens and more.
