Update: action taken so far

Since launching the petition, a number of formal steps have now been taken:

• Formal complaints have been submitted to Mijas Town Hall, including supporting evidence of noise, operating hours and other concerns.

• The matter has also been formally raised with the Junta de Andalucía, including a request for proper investigation of the environmental and acoustic conditions.

• The Mayor of Mijas has now been contacted directly and asked to intervene.

• The Mijas councillor responsible for Environment has also been contacted, together with the relevant Environment and Urbanism departments.

• The Mayor of Fuengirola has responded positively and a municipal technician has already visited Sunset Views to observe the situation and take indicative noise readings.

• The Karting Mijas operator has been formally contacted regarding compliance with the environmental authorisation, including operating hours and noise-control requirements.

• Nearby property developers have been contacted and asked to support residents by raising the issue with the relevant authorities.

• The environmental authorisation, complaint receipts, supporting evidence and the petition signatories have now been circulated to the relevant authorities.

We will continue to press for proper enforcement of the existing conditions, a representative official acoustic assessment and a full review of the impact of the karting operation on the rapidly growing residential area around it.
