Revise UCs Capital Allowance for Joint Claimants and Disregard Savings for Home Repairs

Revise UCs Capital Allowance for Joint Claimants and Disregard Savings for Home Repairs
The Issue
My experience and belief have driven me to start this petition. As joint claimants of Universal Credit, my partner and I have found that the capital allowance remains the same regardless of whether it's a single or joint claim. Yet, everyone is unique and the one-size-fits-all approach of the current system is not fair or just. I firmly believe that joint claimants should have a higher capital allowance than that of a single claim.
Also, while it is appreciated that there are laws in place that disregard loans or grants saved specifically for house repairs or renovations, savings made with the same intent should also be disregarded. All individuals and families should be able to plan for and carry out necessary home improvements without being penalized.
Universal Credit was designed to simplify benefits and to ensure work always pays more than welfare. But the current rules for savings and capital can be a trap for people who try to improve their living conditions or provide better for their families.
We can make Universal Credit better. Our voices are the strongest tool we have to do this. Together, we can bring about a fairer society, where everyone is given equal opportunities. Let's urge the government to change the capital allowance for joint claimants and disregard savings specifically intended for home repairs or renovations.
