Revise Massachusetts Vehicle Window Tint Laws to Include a 20% Minimum
The Issue
I am a professional window tinter from Massachusetts and every day, I see the many positive impacts that window tinting brings to vehicle owners. Yet, our state's tint laws, unchanged since 1985, deprive us of deriving maximum benefits from this technology.
Those who avail the service, do so for safety against crimes and road accidents, cooler cars, and to enhance the appearance and value of their vehicles. In stark contrast, Police vehicles which have window tints as dark as 0%, while civilians are disadvantaged by outdated laws.
With improved technology, tinted windows are no longer a cosmetic enhancement but contribute to a safer and more comfortable driving experience. The tint reduces glare, helping in accident prevention. Research shows that tinted windows can reduce interior heat in cars by up to 70%, contributing to a more relaxed and calmer driving experience. Underlining the safety aspect, a criminal is less likely to meddle with vehicles that have dark windows.
Despite the established benefits, Massachusetts citizens squint through the harsh glare of prejudice from an outdated law. If even factory rear windows can come at 20%, then isn't it only logical our legal limit be updated to reflect these new realities?
It's time to revise our state's window tint laws - for safer streets, for happier motorists, and for a fairer Massachusetts. Sign this petition to demand that the Massachusetts' law enforcement authorities revise vehicle window tint laws to a 20% minimum.
