Our history textbooks, specifically those by NCERT, have been criticized for presenting a glorified image of the Mughal dynasty while downplaying the importance of local leaders. This incidence has been a subject of concern for a significant number of students, parents, and educators who believe that such a one-sided perspective does not entirely reflect our rich and diverse history. There has been notable concern over books written by historians like Romila Thapar who are claimed to present a narrative favoring the grandeur of the Mughals while largely neglecting local history. This critical imbalance in our history curricula impacts our young students' understanding of how our nation's history was shaped. Therefore, the petition solicits the revision of our history textbooks to focus both on the Mughals and a diverse range of local leaders and events to represent a balanced and unbiased view of history.
