Our one demand out of 10 demands is to publish a registry. The RTB will now start publishing monetary orders.
******
The Residential Tenancy Branch (RTB) will begin publishing all monetary orders issued on or after July 31, 2025, in a public and searchable database. The RTB will wait for at least 15 days to publish a monetary order after a decision is made.
The published information will include:
Landlord and tenant names
The dispute file number
The rental address
How much money is owed and who owes it.
If you feel that publication of these details will harm your safety, you may submit a request for exemption. The RTB will review requests to determine if concerns for a person’s safety outweigh the public interest in transparency and accountability.
Who qualifies for an exemption
The RTB may grant an exemption to individuals who:
Demonstrate that publication of their name or rental address leads to a credible threat to their safety, and
Meet one or more of the following conditions:Have experienced or are experiencing family or intimate partner violence
Are justice sector workers (e.g., law enforcement, prosecutors, judges)
Are under protective orders or have active safety plans in place
Face threats to personal safety from a third party
