Review of the unduly lenient sentence for Ann Sacoolas

Review of the unduly lenient sentence for Ann Sacoolas
The Issue
On 8 December, Sacoolas was sentenced by Mrs Justice Bobbie Cheema-Grubb to eight months in prison, suspended for 12 months, and was disqualified from driving for 12 months in the UK for causing the Death by Careless Driving of Mr Harry Dunn.
This sentence is meaningless and worthless as Ms Sacoolas will never return to the UK and any crime she commits anywhere else will not trigger any custodial sentence. Her ban will also be irrelevant, as she will never drive again in the UK anyway.
Under the Unduly Lenient Sentence (ULS) scheme, victims of crime, members of the public, and the Crown Prosecution Service can ask for certain Crown Court sentences to be reviewed if they believe they are too low.
At present, the ULS cannot be used to review Death by Dangerous or Careless driving.
Therefore, please sign this petition to support:
- A change in the rules to allow the ULS to be used to review these types of unduly lenient sentences, and
- a request that her sentence be reviewed.
- Get justice for Harry Dunn and his family.
Thank you everyone.
